Zhytomyroblenergo (ZHEN) operates and controls all electricity grids below 220kV in the Zhytomyr region as a monopoly distributor and transmitter. The Zhytomyr region covers an area of 29,800 km2 with 1.3 mln inhabitants, of whom 57% live in urban areas. ZHEN’s clientele is highly diversified, with residents as the largest group, consuming 35% of total output. Industrial users account for a 30% share of consumption, primarily in the metals, food processing, and glass and porcelain sectors.
