Krymenergo (KREN) is a monopoly distributor and transmitter of power in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, operating and controlling all electricity grids below 220kV. The company serves an area of 26,100 km2 with 2.0 mln inhabitants, of whom 63% live in urban areas. Crimea has a low level of industrialization, a developed agricultural sector, and a notable tourist infrastructure. Krymenergo’s customer base is highly diversified, with residential users accounting for nearly a third of the region’s demand. Industrial users consume 29% of power in Crimea, the agricultural sector accounts for just 8%, while non-industrial clients consume nearly 14%.
